Since I started picking my work email up on my phone, I've noticed my data usage increase exponentially. I attribute this to the number of emails with attachments. I notice the iphone mail app only asks you to download the attachment intermittently (maybe due to size?).

Is there any way to switch off the auto downloading of attachments?

Is there another mail app that would work this way? (needs to be exchange server and gmail compatible).

If you get lots of mail with inline images, you can turn those off in Settings for the stock mail app.
