Login to your email providers website and mass delete them there. The results will or should sync to your iPad.

This will work if your email account is set up as an IMAP account. If it's POP, the only way is one by one on the device.
    Highrisedrifter and Just_Me_D like this.

Yep, exactly this. Fortunately, most email systems suggest setting up as IMAP nowadays but there are some that still use POP for some reason.

OP, there is no way on your iPad 2, in the mail app, of deleting emails en masse.

I use an email application that allows this. Called Mymail. Free application.

Too much work to mess with alternative email clients on the iPhone. I prefer the stock app. I don't do mail on my iPad.

I actually prefer POP mail for my Mac. It allows me to keep local copies in folders as I choose. And because it's mostly gmail, the mail is also always available via browser should anything go wrong. #oldschool #beltandsuspenders

I do use IMAP on my iPhone for the accounts that allow IMAP that configuration.

I did not. I have not had an iPad 2 for many years. You have confused me with someone else. #ReadingIsFundamental #RIF
