My ipad is hanging, how to unlock?

When I slide to unlock it doesnt unlock. iCloud Backup-This iPad hasn'tbeen backed upin 29 weeks......this message is on the screen and when I tap OK nothing happens, it continues to hang.

Try a hard reboot. Hold Sleep/Wake/Power button AND the Home button down until you see the Apple logo. Then release the buttons and let the iPad restart.

If that doesn't help, you may have to wipe it and reload iOS using iTunes.
