My IPad email screen is frozen

All the other screens work as normal, but a little icon of a lock inside a circle has appeared on the top right of the screen. Any ideas?

The icon of a lock inside a circle means that the rotation lock is in effect. In other words, when you turn your device sideways (landscape mode), the screen will not rotate. Simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Control Center, and then tap on the same icon at the right of the screen to disable it.
