Is there anyway to have read receipts activated for just some people?

I want to know if my kids have gotten my imessages, therefore I want the read receipt feature on. But in general for friends they want it off (and I understand, as I have mine off). But is there a way for them to have it on just for my communication with them? Right now it's either on or off...just want to know if there is a work around to this.
