How does the Photos beta handle importing multiple iPhoto libraries?

I have two macs each with iPhoto libraries that at one point were synchronised - now they are very different - different albums and different Apple books that I have made over the last few years.

I tried to synchronise these libraries using iPhoto but hit a wall with the books.

Does Photos allow you to import multiple libraries - does it seek out duplicates effectively eg. if a duplicate is removed it is still present in both albums - Does it import books from iphoto? Even from multiple libraries?
