How do I get iMessage to activate if I only have wifi, no cell service?

I live in an area with no cell service but use wifi to send iMessages. My iMessage disconnected. I turned it back on but it just says "waiting to activate". Last time this happened it stayed that way for more than a day until I drove to a place with reception. Anyone know what I can do to fix it? Thanks!

Try signing out of iMessage, rebooting your device, and then signing back in to iMessage. You can also try resetting your Network Settings. Don't rule out rebooting your router.
