If you can afford it, I would suggest the 64gb. "It's better to have and not need, than to need and not have"

I don't know whether or not you "need" 16 GB or 64 GB, but as already been stated, get the 64 GB model to be on the safe side, if possible. It's better to have more than you need than to not have enough.

I'm struggling with 16gb. I wouldn't recommend 16gb to any heavy iPhone user

It's always safer to go with the larger option, if money isn't an issue.

This doesn't really effect performance IE a 16 GB device will perform about as well as a 64 GB device but in smaller storage device memory is at a premium. Apps, music, etc. fill it up very fast. If you have a computer with iTunes and don't mind micromanaging this is no biggie but is very annoying otherwise.

If you use a lot of different apps, I strongly recommend a larger capacity phone bc you are not going to want to be uninstalling and reinstalling your apps all the time.

But remember you cannot supplement or upgrade this later. What you get is what you have so strongly consider if saving money on smaller capacity phone is worth not ever having the option to increase it for the life of the phone.

This is one area where I like Android. Wish iOS could use microSD then the discussion would be meaningless :P

I completely agree with Spencerdl. If this is your first iDevice that you can't really predict your usage, so its best to plan for more storage if it's affordable. Not to mention, you wanna get the best out of your device and not have any "not enough storage" restrictions. Also, it comes in handy to have enough storage available for OTA updates.

I would recommend staying away from 16GB if you have the option unless you keep everything in the cloud OR clean your media off your phone regularly OR just don't have enough media to mention at all.
