It depends on the insurance. If you're referring to AppleCare +, you have to purchase it within 60 days of purchasing your iPhone.

AppleCare is 60 days... 3rd party like SquareTrade, etc. are whenever... carrier insurance depends on carrier...

Not going to buy applecare+ through phone again. Is better to buy it together. Is a long wait and the customer officer had an hard time understanding on phone. Lol.
