Unable to put events on IPad calendar

My calendar + sign does not activate when pushed so I can add events nor holding my finger on a certain day of month so I can complete info?'

Check what calendars you have selected as default...and you've selected one that you can add to... It may be you've selected as default a calendar that's read only...
