How can I delete pictures off of my iPad mini if the trash bin is grayed out?

Can't delete pictures on my mini iPad

Trash bin is faded of. Instead blue now is gray. So I can't delete any pictures.

If you put the pictures on through iTunes that's how you have to delete them
