    it appears like a circle on the top of home screen when you press the home button once. I dont mind the favorites appearing, but recent gets annoying

    Settings, Mail, Contacts & Calendar, scroll down to Contacts section, select Show in App Switcher and turn off Recents and/or Favorites as desired.
