    Why does bookmarks not turn off when I use safari

    Welcome to iMore! What are you seeing that you are calling bookmarks? Bookmarks don't turn off when using Safari. That's why they are called bookmarks. They mark a place for future reference. Could you mean the tabs? Those you can delete easily by swiping them to the left. But still not sure what you refer to.
