Is there a way to quickly restore time machine back up files into a different user account?

I've been using a MacBook Pro for a while and decided I wanted a fresh install of Yosemite. I use an external drive which holds my Time Machine back ups so felt confident I was going to be able to access user files and application files easily after the install. However, I used a pseudonym as my User Account originally, and have now adopted in my fresh install user account my own name and the short name as my pseudonym. However, I cannot now access user files I've restored or applications (Adobe) will not work. Is there an easy fix ?
