Virtual Box and native resolution

Hey there. I installed Windows 10 on my (mid 2010) iMac, via Virtual Box, and everything went smoothly... that is until I loaded up the Windows 10 desktop in full screen mode. The best resolution I can get is 1280x1024, but obviously that doesn't fit the screen, at all. I'm left with a box in the middle of the screen, surrounded by a black abyss. After 24 hours of research, it looks like installing the guest additions, within Virtual Box and Windows 10, does the trick upon reboot. I did this, and I still cannot get to my native resolution of 1920x1080. I installed, rebooted, nothing. Then shut down Windows 10, quit Virtual Box, re-opened Virtual Box, started Windows 10... same result. What did I miss, along the install route, and how can I get Virtual Box and Windows 10 to use native resolution?
