Why aren't meeting invites being deleted on my iPad?

I have an ipad 2 and a iphone 6. When I receive meeting invites on my iphone I can accept and they go away. Doesn't this suppose to sync with the ipad automatically so the meeting request also go away on my ipad? If so, I must be missing something.

If the iPhone and the iPad is configured the same in regard to your calendar then yes, the action you took on one device should sync to the other. Having said that, syncing doesn't always work as seamlessly as it should. Notifications are a good example.

Yes it is an exchange calendar for work. I can delete or accept a meeting request but there always still on my iPad. Frustrating!
