    The answer may surprise you based on how simple it is, you should charge it when you need to charge it. If the battery is at say 80 percent and you feel that you might pick it up later in the evening to do some web browsing, there isn't any need to charge it.

    Although another scenario would be lets say you're done with the iPad for the day and you'll be using it heavily the next day (but you have 60 percent or more of a charge), you may as well just charge it for your convenience so you're not hunting for a charger the next day.

    The one thing you shouldn't do however is keep it plugged in at all times (good example of this is in store demo units of pretty much any electronic gadget).
