After following your procedures to erase my iMac's disc in preparation to sell it, when I try to start the Mac I get a file folder that flashes between an image of a profile and a question mark.
I cannot open the CD tray and have tried starting with Command R and get the same results.
    Thanks,
    Jim

If you mean to remove a cd that is inside the cd room, as soon as you push down the power on button to turn on the computer, press down right Conner the track pad (if you use one) or hold down the eject key until the cd pop out.
Folder flashing at startup meaning that there are some booting files that are missing, files that allow the computer to recognize the bootable HDD. At this point you need to reinstall the OS. Insert you installation cd drive into the computer, shut it down, then power it on and as soon as the screen on, press down the C key until cd installation assistant comes up.
