Updates for a discarded application (and previous owner's name) keep coming up
when I go to Apple Store. How do I get rid of ?

Not sure how this could happen since the only updates it should offer you are ones that are on the computer and purchased under your AppleID...

Delete the application itself if it's a free one and download it again using your account. If it's a paid app and you do not want to delete it, then there is nothing that you can do to prevent seeing the update notification.
