Can you help me to factory reset my iPhone 5C?

I have forgotten the iPhone passcode. I followed your instructions to get into Recovery Mode but iTunes does not come up with the recovery option. The iPhone shows the iTunes graphic and iTunes auto launches but there is no pop-up asking if you want to recover it. Any other suggestions? This is just a test device so I don't know if it has ever been sync'ed

If the device is in DFU mode, iTunes should see it and give you the choice to restore...
