I recently upgraded my phone from an iphone 5 to a 6. I have a contact who I sent an imessage to that must have failed. I do not see a failed message listed anywhere. now, whenever I send a new message to that contact it always says "sending 1 of 2" which succeeds and then "sending 2 of 2" which never completes.

Sending a message to any other contact works as it should.

Ive tried many things to fix. Turned imessage off and back on. rebooted. deleted all texts to this contact. sent messages to the contact via sms. nothing gets rid of this message...

How do I find and delete this phantom message?

Since you've tried all of that, it must be some sort of software glitch. A simple restore via iTunes should fix it. I'd advise against restoring from a backup if possible since the problem could come back if you did.
