Why does the link that asks websites not to track me does nothing?

the link "ask websites not to track me" does nothing

why do i have to ask them, just to block their tracing feature is not avail, because when we just ask them, do they really respect it ? of course not, its not good for their biz

The creators of the feature are trying to mandate it and companies are implementing it in their products to show support for privacy.
