Why won't my Facebook open since the 5.1 update?

Having a problem with facebook it won't open since the 5.1 up date

Up dated the 5.1 version for facebook , now facebook won't load in my ipad. If I delete it and re install will I loose all my FB friends

Welcome to iMore! No, you won't lose anything. Facebook is an online site. You can log in to your account in Safari. The app is just a nice way to present the site. I log out of my account sometimes and log in to my Wife's account on my app. Delete it, then download it back. You may have to log back in. But you won't lose anything.

I don?t use Facebook at all - either on my Mac or my iPhone. My wife, however, does. She has been complaining about how crappy the Facebook app is on her phone for several months now. Not sure what app version she is running - but she?s running iOS 8.1.2.

The app itself runs pretty smooth. It's all the B$ Facebook does. I could write a dissertation about how much I despise that company.
