Why is my mail usage on ipad 3 still showing 2.4 GB after deleting all of them?

I do not backup my emails to iCloud. I've deleted all my sent items, most all of the mail, and emptied the deleted items folder and still shows I'm using 2.4 GB I've also powered down my ipad overnight and restarted. No change. What do I need to do? Please?

Welcome to iMore! Check all your folders. There's usually some in the "Important" folder. Also check the "Junk" folder. Backing email up to iCloud would have no affect on how much space the mail app takes. You might pull up your email accounts online and take a look there. With that much space being used, I would guess a lot may be photos or videos.
