Could my Mavericks Launchpad have become corrupted because not all apps appear any more?

I believe that my Mavericks Launchpad has become corrupted because not all apps appear any more.

I followed your advice up to the point of finding the 'Docks' folder. However, I do not have a Docks folder. Please advise.

Is there a time machine backup that you can use to fix the problem? Updating to Yosemite might remove the corrupted Mavericks launchpad.
