Why is my wifi lock up and gray out

I'm having issues with my wifi. It locks out and won't let me turn on because it's gray out. How to fix it?

Try resetting it. If that doesn't work, try resetting network settings.

Or failing that get a big hammer and slap your wifi modem about a little with it. That normally does it for me!
