    They were deleted off my ipad, so i also lost them on my iphone 4S Can they be restored?

    Welcome to iMore! Were they iCloud contacts or Gmail? Have you got Contacts toggled on in iCloud? If not, toggle it on. You might do the same with any Gmail account. And did you have them backed up to iTunes?
