You cannot legally purchase a warranty knowing that the device is already destroyed.

Sorry to hear that. Try putting it in some rice for a day or so & then see if it turns back on.

Apple Store will charge $299 to replace it due to the water damage. Sucks but should have had some form of warranty. Even if the rice trick allows it to work. It will eventually go on the fritz (depending on the amount of liquid damage)

    Hey Calyan Cook,
Why Apple Store charges so much money $299 to replace a customer iphone because of water damage; isn't the best to just charge 50% of actual cost to replace it.

She is saying exactly what she means. Put the wet device is a bag of uncooked rice to let the rice draw out the liquid.

    Phone in water?
    1. Leave it turned off!
    2. Immediately put in a bag of dry rice. The rice sucks the moisture out of the phone.
    3. Leave in the rice for at least 3 days.
    4. Do not attempt to turn the phone on during the 3 days.
    5. Say your prayers, mojo or incantations.

The unlocked unsubsidised cost of a base model iPhone 6 is more like $650.

The $299 IS less than 50% of the actual cost. The 16GB version if the iPhone 6 will run you $649. Fifty percent of $649 is $324.50, so see, it IS a deal.
