Is Yosemite more stable than Mavericks as an operating system? I'm having some issues with my MacBook Air on Yosemite recognizing certain external drives readily. It seems to sporadically work and makes me wonder whether the operating system might be a contributing factor, after discounting for USB cords, the drives themselves, or my USB connections.

Are the promised benefits worth the risk of upgrading?
