I have a few questions to ask since this is my first iPhone.
I bought the 128 gig phone but it says compactly 114 and available 109 since installing the apps I wanted. Is this normal.
And how do you upload photos to instagram.when I try to share photos it doesn't list it.and I have it installed on phone.
And last is there anyway to have contact pics on iMessage.

The capacity sounds about right. iOS takes up some space and of course the apps and any media.
To share to IG you do it from the IG app. Tap the camera icon in IG. The camera will open. To the left of the shutter will be a thumbnail of the first pic in your iPhone camera roll. Tap that and navigate through your pics tap on the one you want to share.
