    Previous versions of whatsapp, I can click on the persons profile pic and access the media.

    With the updated version, I have to click people's name. But when wifi is off, the name is replaced by a 'waiting to connect' thing, and clicking that yields no response, hence I am unable to access the media.

    Is there a way around this? I need to see my stuff from group chats outside home where I have no wifi.

    I don't know. From what I've read briefly, you need to have internet access of some sort for WhatsApp to work properly. Anyway, feel free to peruse the WhatsApp support section while awaiting further replies...
