How do I add a pic to my home screen?

OS X Yosemite (10.10) startup screen

Hi all
After installing OS X Yosemite (10.10) my iMac starts with strange screen...looks like is updating every time I turn on my mac. I'd like to add a pix, but I don't have that option

That is correct. There is no option for a photo. The background is the translucent version of your desktop photo.

The line moving across the screen? That's normal from what I've seen.
