What is the differrence between MBA and MBP?

Confused between MBA and MBP non retina buying mac for first time

1 MBP 8gb ram, 1tb sata hard drive, intel i5 processor 2.5ghz USD 1134

2 MBA 8gb ram, 128 gb flash storage, intel i5 processor 1.4ghz USD 1039

if I combine option 2 with a external 1tb hard disk for approx 70 usd then both options come for around the same.

i will be using the mac for basic surfing, watching movies, editing basic photographs.

which is a better option? any help will be appreciated
