How do I turn on web link previews?

yosemite, messages app, how to turn on web link previews?

under Mavericks, if i received a web link within the messages app, i could click on the link, a small down arrow would appear, and i could view the page without leave the messages app, how do i get that back?

I don't know. Although I use the Messages app via Yosemite, I didn't as much when I had Mavericks installed and don't recall the web view function therein. Anyway, I can't find an option or a preference that will make that function work in Yosemite. Sorry.
