My iphone5 is not charging.When i put it on charge it simply shows itunes logo.how to resolve?

Usually when you see the plug and it says hook to iTunes if this is what you are seeing it means you need to go into iTunes and activate your phone. Has it ever been activated by you IF you just recently got it?
