I currently use an early 2009, 17" MacBook Pro and am constantly being frustrated with the 8 GB RAM limit. I think I'm ready to upgrade my MacBook Pro but am concerned about the current one being available for more than a year. Any thoughts on when the next generation of MacBook Pros will be available?

If you need a new one you should get one. It'll be a great machine for years to come. Not sure when the next gen will be available because there's been no announcement but the rMBPs were just updated in July.

Just buy one now. No need to wait. Any 'next generation' will be some kind of small bump.
The current models are thin, fast & Retina, what more could you need?
