When I first updated to iOS 8.0.2, I was thinking the same thing. Yesterday I decided not to use my Mophie Juice pack and test my therory. I went from 8AM to 8PM (normal everyday use) without putting my 5s on a charger....I ended the test with 24% battery left at 8PM, I would usually end the day around 30% before iOS 8, so I would say yes iOS 8.0.2 does use more battery, but not that it drains very fast.
May I suggest a device reset. Hold the power and home button down simultaneously until the Apple screen appears then release and see if you have improved battery life.
