If I upgrade my unlocked iPhone 3Gs running iOS 4.2.1 to the iOS 5 will it still be unlocked?

Hi everybody,

I have an iPhone 3Gs running iOS 4.2.1. Jailbroken and Unlocked.

I want to give this to my dad, but here's my dilema. The phone right now works perfectly, calls, text messages, etc...

We really wanna be able to use Whatsapp with him, but it wont let us install it on 4.2.1.

How can I upgrade the phone to like iOS 5, and still be able to Unlock it (he lives in Guatemala).

You need to upgrade while preserving the baseband. Also we need to see what the most recent unlocked and jailbroken firmware is for that phone and use the correct tool. I'm at work right now so I can't go more in depth right now.
