    It is an iPad 3 64 gig with verizion.

    seems to have started around update time.

    I do have the latest software installed.

    May be some glitch with the version you updated- do you have an iCloud back up? I would try a hard reset first- If that doesnt help you can try resetting your settings-= last resort wipe and restore
