My daughter gave her iphone 5 (ATT) to my son. But my daughter wanted to delete everthing on her phone , so she did it with find my phone app. delete and lost. We took the phone to our service provider( T-mobile) for set up. He told me the phone was locked and need to be unlocked. My daughter gave me her apple id and pass word so i could restore phone. However I did not notice they replaced the ATT card with a t mobile sim card. When going through set up. The phone gives me message that sim card is not compatible. I went back to T-mobile and told them I need the ATT sim card. They told me they had thrown it away. Was i Upset. Is there anyhting I can do to get phone up and runnning. If i purchase a att sim card can I get the phone restored for use? Any help would be appreciated.

If the phone isn't unlocked then it cannot be used on T-Mobile and only on AT&T.
