What version of iOS are you running?

Prior to iOS 7, double tap the Home button, and scroll to the left. You should see the icon for rotation lock on the far left (it's the padlock with a circular arrow surrounding it).

On iOS 7 and later, slide up on the Control Center. The rotation lock icon is on the right end of the top row if settings icons.
