Text inserts in Pageswith iOS8 always start with uppercase letter, why?

Has anyone else encountered a problem editing Pages document in iOS8?
I continually get the first letter inserted automatically as an Uppercase Character which is annoying as it requires further editing.

That's the default behavior and I think that there aren't any options to change it.

Surely, that's a change from Pages with iOS7. I use Pages every day and did not encounter this before upgrading to iOS8.
As I said in my original question, this means editing my edited text which is annoying and surely unnecessary as I am not talking about spelling corrections but inserting new text in the midst of a sentence where the capitalisation stands out like a sore thumb.
