It is asking me to put in a passcode of which I have no knowledge

Is it asking you for a passcode or is it asking you to create a passcode? Usually after an install it will prompt you to set a passcode and a lot of people mistakenly think they have to or need one. If you've never set a passcode this is probably the case and you can just choose to skip it. Sometimes during this process people put in their iTunes or iCloud password without realizing it's just a prompt and not a requirement so if you are locked out, try one of those. What is the exact wording of the prompt?
