I would like to setup 2-factor verification. I have an ipad and a Macbook but no phone. Can I still have 2-factor verification? Thanks

You should be able to set it up between the two I think. But it's probably better if you have a phone number that can receive and messages as a backup.

the reason I ask is because on one of the Apple instruction pages, it talks about receiving an SMS.

My iPad is verified but I'll check today and see if it can receive the code.

I think you need at least one cell number for the SMS notification. After that, you can send them to your iDevices.

My issue is that if I travel and use a SIM/phone # that isn't related to the initial 2-factor verification, what can I do? It seems to cause more issues than solve if I can't easily access my devices using the system.
