I just installed Mavericks 10.9.4 in the hopes of being able to read my AVCHD (mts) files. I still cannot import them to either iMovie or Final Cut Express. I tried to update iMovie. I have 8.0.6 which came with the computer, but when I try to find an update, it just offers to sell me iMovie as if I don't have it. I downloaded "smart converter" and converting to quicktime.mov and that couldn't be imported either. Help!

Hi, welcome to iMore, iMovie is non transferable. If your not the original owner, with their ID, it won't update.
