    Hi and welcome to iMOre.

    This is usually the case when the iPhone lead is plugged into a socket that is not directly attached to the motherboard. If you haven't, try one of the rear sockets that is directly hard-wired into the motherboard.

    Also, check the cable to make sure it is working properly. If you can, use another lead and USB socket.

    Whenever i've had this issue, one of the above suggestions has usually been the culprit.
