I'm going to buy a MBP and was wondering if I should buy an external HD right from the start since I'll be doing a lot of Logic Pro x also is the interface and moving of files difficult between the two THANKS

Go for it, and no. Moving/copying files to an external drive is as easy as drag and drop...

As long as you've got the funds for it, it could never hurt. A LOT, more storage could be quite beneficial.

I've just never used one before but it wii keep the hard drive on the MBP way below its max right?

Get an external drive with a thunderbolt connection rather than USB. The data transfer will be almost like the built in hard drive.

I'm looking at the WD ThunderBolt Duo but it's pricey. It shame they don't ship a driverless version because I have an old FW Drobo with drives with a lot of life i them.

Anyone have any experience with the Duo?
