iTunes has stopped working during iPod backup process

My whole problem started when I tried to Update my iPod to iOS 7.1.2 but at about half way it froze so I decided it would be a good idea to just restart my whole iPod since I was kind of low on space, but made a backup to keep my music and photos. After it was done it was back to facotry setting BUT when i tried to install the backup I get a message saying "iTunes has stopped working" half way in to the backup and just crashes. Can anyone help PLEASE

You did say you were low on space. Try setting the iPod up as new. Once you've made it to your home screen, try to restore again OR re-download any purchased music from the iTunes Store and, if your photos are stored in iCloud via photo stream then re-enable photo stream and wait for the photos to re-sync to your iPod.
