Why am I getting different totals for the amount of photos I have?

Hi iv been catching up on your shows all this week and they are great! Im from england and wanted to ask for some help with photos.... My iphone 5s says i have 905 photos ..go to settings/general/about it says 3,204 and once sync to laptop my itunes says even more .. And it takes alot of memory... Why is this and how would you guys suggest i sort it? Thanks in advance for any help!

Do you have photos in both your cameral roll and photostream? Have you tried rebooting your device to see if the numbers coincide with each other?
