How do I add storage space to my iPad?

I need to add storage space to my Ipad. I tried to do it from ipad. I put in all the information it asked for but nothing happened. Ipad is running real slow.

You will have to delete unnecessary apps, photos, music, etc. or upload them to a cloud service, external hard drive or a computer. You cannot add physical storage to your iPad.
